Morning Meeting with #theBossofMe 10.12.2020

From: Behold the Lilies- Daily Meditations for Christian Women (Verna Mast & Susan Schwartz)
😇: John 4:27 And upon this came his disciples, and marveled that he talked to the woman.
📚: History tells me that the Jews despised the Samaritan people so much that some avoided traveling through Samaria.
🦋: I have the Living Water of Jesus Christ to quench my thirst.
🎬: I must take the time to talk to both the people I serve and the people who serve me. I must never think anyone is too morally corrupt or morally good to share a sip of my Living Water with them.

Loving the Stranger (Amy Boucher Pye) 😇: Leviticus 19:34 Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt.
📚: In the past, church congregations would rent out pews, which raised money for the church and ensured no one could occupy another’s seat. That mentality preservers to this day.
❗️: God encourages me in Leviticus that in contrast to current cultural practices, I am to welcome foreigners. This is set out in the laws God created in order to help his people flourish.
❗️: I am not only to treat strangers with kindness (v.33), but also to love them as I love myself. (v.34)
❗️: God rescued his oppressed people giving them a home in a land flowing with “milk & honey”. (Exodus 3:17) God expects me to love others who also make their home here.
🦋: God welcomes me with open arms for He loves me day after day.
🎬: Ask God to reveal to me any cultural practices that might keep me from sharing God’s Love with others.

Promises Fulfilled 😇: Isiah 45:2-3 This is what the Lord says: I will go before you, Cyrus, and level the mountains. I will smash down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. And I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness—secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.
❗️: The world is quick to offer me promises of wealth, prosperity, and peace. But those promises lack follow through and leave disappointment in their wake.
🦋: God is the only One who can offer promises of complete peace and who diligently feeds my faith with his promises.
🦋: It is in my hopelessness that I can cling to the promises of God.
🦋: My hunger for faith is born in that place of utter discouragement.
🦋: God’s promises to protect me, love me, and fill me with unshakable peace is well documented in scripture.
🦋: I can hope for the impossible, dream the unattainable, and see the light in utter darkness because of the promises God breathes into my very existence.
